Technology Updates – Copy Center, Hour of Code, and more
The new copy center driver is now the only way to submit items to the copy center. The county is working on stability of the system. If the driver is not installed or not working please come see us in the Technology Empowerment Center. There is a multitude of reasons why the it may not be working, but all can be solved with a quick visit. Please visit rather than placing a service request.
Hour of Code
Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet. But fewer than half of all schools teach computer science. Mainland is one of those proud schools to have technology rich academies. I’m asking you to join in for the Hour of Code 2016. Please get involved with an Hour of Code event during Computer Science Education Week, December 5-11.
If you are looking for logic or computer based activities, please visit https://hourofcode.com/us/learn You can search by Grade level, type of activity, and whether you need computers or not.
Please tweet out on twitter using the hash tag #VCShourofcode and of course tag @MainlandHigh
Having a problem loading or opening Crosspointe? Please use the new link to Crosspointe (Windows 10) on the Mainland High School webpage under Staff. Remember password issues please see Brenda Jenkins.
If you are in a lab or using a cart please have your students turn off (not put to sleep) the computers during 7th Period every day except Wednesday. This will increase the life of the computers, and make them more reliable during the day.
Please encourage your students to use their personal computer accounts (Username: firstname.lastname@example.org Password: 8 digit birthday) In January the generic accounts will go away and all students will be force to use their accounts. Including logging onto the computer to take a state test.
